Scanning Medical Records

A couple of interesting articles have recently come out regarding online healthcare records.

  1. Google is encouraging consumers to scan and upload their own medical records into Google Health, as reported by Techcrunch.
  2. The Department of Defense is running a pilot program that allows veterans and active military personnel to have their medical records uploaded into Microsoft HealthVault and/or Google Health.

Has anyone tried either of these services? Very curious to see how they work…

One Response to “Scanning Medical Records”

  1. Walker says:

I haven’t used either service but I work at a medical record scanning company. In my opinion, the Achilles Heel of an EMR is the inability to exchange information. Until that is resolved, online scanned images will be the most efficient way to share information between providers.
