WebWorkerDaily Spreads the OfficeDrop Word

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

OfficeDrop and our FreshBooks integration was recently written up in an article featured on WebWorkerDaily which can be seen here.

As we noted in a previous blog post, OfficeDrop can now be integrated with FreshBooks with the OfficeDrop-FreshBooks app. We are very excited about helping people with their online billing, and others are starting to take note of the convenience this integration provides.

For example, we recently caught the eye of WebWorkerDaily, a resource site which is part of the popular GigaOM network and provides tips, news, and guides for people in web-focused careers.

We were fortunate enough to be featured on WebWorkerDaily in a post by the talented Aliza Sherman, who explained the notable features of both OfficeDrop and the FreshBooks integration. We especially liked her real-world examples that noted the benefits of a graphic designer attaching images right to an invoice, or a freelance writer sharing drafts with clients so that they can see progress right from the bill.

Since WebWorkerDaily is a great resource for the digital workforce, we are proud to have our very own article to join the ranks of pieces geared toward promoting productivity and making online careers easier.

Thank you to Aliza and WebWorkerDaily for spreading the word about OfficeDrop and our new FreshBooks integration!

Pixily Mentioned in VentureBeat and the Virtual Legal Assistant

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

OfficeDrop’s document management and document scanning solution has had a couple of great mentions in some good blogs.

VentureBeat

Brent Frei, co-founder of Smartsheet.com, and previously the CEO of Onyx Software wrote a piece for VentureBeat on the coming battle of “software portals.” Brent is discussing how businesses are becoming more and more comfortable using cloud based software, and believes that certain software providers (SalesForce, Intuit and Google) will become the dominant platforms where small businesses purchase all of their software products and services. Basically, different online software companies will develop integrated products that run on and are sold through specific large company cloud/distribution platforms.

As Brent discusses the Intuit Workplace and suggests small businesses “Round out your … Intuit Workplace with Document Management from OfficeDrop.”

The Virtual Legal Assistant

The Virtual Legal Assistant mentions OfficeDrop as a great way to get your law office organized for the new year. They suggest that OfficeDrop is a good solution for the “solopreneur” looking to manage a reasonable amount of paper documents.

Document Scanning to Boost the Economy

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

In a recent blog post, “Put Down that Shovel,” Andy Kessler criticizes government attempts to create jobs and stimulate the economy with hackneyed infrastructure projects (building roads and bridges). As a more productive alternative, he suggests our job production mirror the modern economy we now live in by shifting government spending toward more high-tech projects.

We were enthused to read that two of his ideas for high-tech stimulus included document scanning!

That’s right, document scanning is not only productive in your office, but for the nation’s economy. At least Andy Kessler, former hedge fund manager and author of “How We Got Here,” thinks so. Kessler suggests in his article that scanning student textbooks and medical records would yield great benefits. As the article states, scanning medical records would save time and money on an enormous scale. Another innovative project, scanning student textbooks could modernize education, and transform twenty pound backpacks into lighter, more high tech alternatives like the Amazon Kindle.

Other interesting and insightful projects include:

  • Wireless installation in streetlights

  • Fiber optic home installations for faster internet speeds

  • Protein sequencing for cancer prevention

  • Construction of the “smart electric grid”

Pixily Attends the Massachusetts State Legislature’s Innovation Day at the State House

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

On October 15th, the Massachusetts State Legislature hosted Innovation Day at the State House. The event presented a unique opportunity for Massachusetts-based technology companies to showcase their contributions in technological innovation as well as for the legislative body and staff to see how this innovation is relevant for economic growth in the Commonwealth. Special thanks to Senator Karen Spilka, Rep. Brian Dempsey and Rep. Michael Rodrigues and the New England Venture Capital Association for sponsoring this day.

OfficeDrop was one of a select group of technology companies invited to participate at Innovation Day.  We are very proud to have been invited to this event! It was great to see how excited Massachusetts’ politicians are about the health of innovation and startups. OfficeDrop garnered a large amount of interest as a prime example of both technological innovation in the Boston area, and as a “real labor” employer with aggressive expansion plans over the next 12 months.  Also of interest to the legislators and staff was OfficeDrop’s work with Boston-area public schools like Belmont Public, with whom OfficeDrop has been working to streamline  files and paperwork , making access to student information more efficient and cost-effective.

Some of the other really cool companies in attendance included:

Also, it was nice to see that irobots have a good sense of civic duty - here is one of their robots throwing away trash inside the State House.

The event centered around a panel discussion moderated by Scott Kirsner(The Boston Globe), in which Massachusetts technology company CEOs and venture capitalists discussed the impact of policy issues on venture capital as well as the importance of continued technological innovation that helps drive the Commonwealth’s economic growth. Scott did a nice job leading a conversation that touched on the difficulties of starting a company in Massachusetts, the unique advantages of the region and the excitement felt by the CEOs who were aggressively growing despite the tough economic environment.

Pixily in PC World

Monday, June 29th, 2009

pcworldlogoYesterday, PC World’s blog The Cost Cutter encouraged businesses to use document scanning as a means for “saving time, space, and ultimately money.” Zach Stern discussed the necessary work involved in scanning your documents but suggested OfficeDrop’s award winning service as one way to eliminate that overwhelming task.

To better understand how our service can help you save time, check out this video on our document management service and how it functions like a search engine for your valuable digitized documents.

Please be sure to post any questions you might have or let us know if OfficeDrop has enabled you or your business to become more organized, productive, and efficient while saving money.
