CloudBeat 2011 Result

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Well, OfficeDrop did not win CloudBeat 2011 Innovation Showdown last week in Redwood City, but we did deliver a nice demo and meet some great people.

Congrats to the winner, Zadara Storage, a provider of virtual private storage arrays in the cloud!

You can read about our demo here on VentureBeat; here is what they wrote about our demo, “OfficeDrop also connects headquarters and workers in the field through file sharing, but it doesn’t end with the ability to share and manage users. Its mobile application allows small businesses to create and share files in the field. The company used the example of a cleaning service. At the end of a job, cleaners would need to fill out a proof of completion sheet, and take a picture of their work for the executives back at head quarters. Using the mobile app, workers can scan the completed sheet and take the picture of their cleaned room, which is created into a file and sent to the file share dashboard.”

Visioneer OneTouch to the Cloud

Visioneer OneTouch to the Cloud

Visioneer OneTouch to the Cloud

Visioneer, the makers of both Visioneer scanners and Xeros small business scanners, announced today that they have integrated their scanners’ Visioneer OneTouch software with OfficeDrop’s cloud filing system and with our ScanDrop scanner software.

Click on the picture above to learn more about Visioneer Connect OneTouch to the Cloud and to download the updated software from Visioneer.

This is a big deal because it shows that major scanner equipment manufacturers are not only taking cloud storage seriously, the are taking OfficeDrop’s online filing system seriously.

As OfficeDrop continues to grow our cloud content management platform we are committed to working with other scanner manufacturers to make it seamless and simple to digitize to the cloud.

Visioneer OneTouch to the Cloud Press Release

Here is a little bit from the press release announcing the Visioneer OneTouch to the Cloud:

According to Anne Valaitis an Associate Director at InfoTrends, “Businesses today are looking for devices and applications that help them conduct business more economically and effectively. This has fueled significant interest in the use of cloud computing. In fact, in a recent study by InfoTrends 68% of IT administrators reported they are currently using or considering cloud computing. By offering connectivity to the cloud, Visioneer is addressing customer demands for effortless usability.”

“No other scanner company offers as many cloud scanning options for such a broad range of scanners models. Every Visioneer and Xerox scanner supporting OneTouch 4.6 or greater is immediately enabled,” said John Capurso, vice president of marketing at Visioneer. “Visioneer CONNECT represents the most comprehensive set of cloud scanning solutions available to extend the usual terrestrial destinations to the leading cloud on-line services. As Visioneer releases more cloud links, you’ll find them at connect.visioneer.com.”

Visioneer CONNECT is the latest link development for Visioneer OneTouch. Your cloud credentials (username and password) can be preset through Visioneer OneTouch so every scan job is not interrupted with log-in details. Most cloud destinations even allow users to choose the folder of their choice and even specify an email address so that a notification email is automatically sent with a link to their file. By scanning images directly to the cloud, users can easily collaborate and share files while working in multiple locations.

Visioneer OneTouch is an award winning utility that simplifies scanning to one button. Everyone wants ease of use and convenience, however sometimes in order to obtain it, you have to sacrifice quality or functionality. Not true when it comes to the Visioneer OneTouch technology. Visioneer OneTouch provides the most elegant ease-of-use scanning experience without “dumbing down” the device.

More Recent OfficeDrop Press

OfficeDrop has been on a roll recently, being mentioned in a few great publications! Here are the highlights:

San Francisco Chronicle on OfficeDrop

David Einstein, business and technology reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, recommends OfficeDrop as a way to digitize paper documents for record keeping:

Q: I have hundreds of paper documents that I would like to digitize. I don’t need to be able to edit the documents. I’m just interested in record-keeping. Can you recommend a scanning service?

A: You have several options. You can take your documents to Staples and let them do the scanning at a rate of 25 cents per page. That works out to $125 for 500 pages. Or, you could send the documents to a company like OfficeDrop (officedrop.com)…

New York Times on OfficeDrop’s Security

nytimes-officedrop

The final part of the New York Time’s three piece case study on OfficeDrop’s security/background checking policy came out on December 8th. This piece was also briefly featured on the Time’s home page!

The case study we published last week chronicled the efforts of OfficeDrop, a start-up that scans sensitive documents for its clients and therefore must ensure that employees are trustworthy.

The article recounted how Prasad Thammineni, OfficeDrop’s chief executive, struggled at first to find the right background-check company and then faced a daunting variety of checks to choose among…

Let’s hope that the rest of December is as good for press coverage as the first couple of weeks have been!
